Simulation of the effect of Lubrication on Friction, Heating and Motion
This interactive GCSE Physics simulation shows how lubrication reduces friction between surfaces. As you increase lubrication, the friction force drops, so less energy is transferred to the thermal store (less heating/heat trail) and more of the work done by the push goes into the object’s kinetic energy (it speeds up or keeps moving more easily). This links directly to GCSE Energy Stores & Transfers and forces (friction as a resistive force).
