How do you build a circuit from a circuit diagram?
After this practical you will be able to:
1Match each symbol to the real part.
2Join two lamps and the rest of the parts in one loop.
3Move the voltmeter's probes about the circuit to find where the 6 V goes.
One loop, one current · the volts get shared
Sharing out the 6 volts
The battery pushes with 6 V, and that 6 V is shared out
between the lamps in the loop. One lamp gets all six. Two lamps get 3 V each. Three
lamps get 2 V each. The voltmeter measures between its two probes, so move them
one at a time: across one lamp it reads that lamp's share, and if you leave the black
probe still and move the red one back past another lamp, the reading goes up by
that lamp's share. Span them all and you are back to 6 V. Less voltage across a
lamp means less current through it, so every lamp goes dimmer, not just the
new one.
